has been made, and the OpenSceneGraph-2.8.0-rc1 has just been created
off this.

Updates (since 2.6.1) include: ¶

    * New osgVolume library for volume rendering, with support for:
          o High quality GPU based Ray tracing
          o Transfer functions
          o Per pixel lighting

    * New plugins for loading Half-Life 2 maps and models.
    * New plugin for loaded exr, high dynamic range imagery
    * Improvements to DatabasePager tailored for low latency paging.
    * Improved runtime stats collection and on screen reporting.
    * Performance improvements through optimization of matrix operations.
    * Support for the OpenGL draw instanced extension.
    * Improvements to COLLADA support.
    * Build reporting using CDash
    * New packing support using CPack
    * A wide range of build and bug fixes

Many many thanks to all those who've put in time on testing out 2.7.9
and svn/trunk, I sense that this 2.8.0-rc1 is the more ready for
release snapshot we've ever done ;-)

But still we can't rest if we want to make 2.8.0 the best we can... so
please download/check out the OpenSceneGraph-2.8 branch or the
2.8.0-rc1 and do compile and runtime checks on as wide range of
platforms as you have to hand.  I would also greatly value feedback on
how you own applications are performing with 2.8, if there are issues
please just report them on osg-users and we can together have a bash
at resolve them.

For uploading of packages I have requested ftp access to the server
for uploading, I let you know of the details if we can get this set
up.
