My "little finger" tells me that most mistakes done in VC7/8/9 and its libraries are probably due to the technical incompetence of a few rather than an MS global conspiracy to eliminate native C++.
I think it might just be a misguided corporate policy that has very bad ramifications on the technical side of things (like we haven't seen that before... MS wouldn't be the first, but perhaps it's the worst offender in this regard).
