Hi Terry, maybe you should explain your workflow more detailed. What is your vpbmaster call? My on is:
Code: vpbmaster --geocentric --terrain --compressed -d <directory with digitalElevationModel files> -t <dir with textures> -o /mydatabase/database.osgb What would you like to do with .flt? convert the output DB to flt? Direct output to FLT instead osgb? Are you rendering a flat or geocentric database? w.r.t 1: I use as root node a osg::CoordinateSystemNode with the standard osg::EllipsoidModel. This works fine with the geocentric database, using the conversion to lat, lon, alt[m]. also the size of my globe is correct, because I use additionally external OpenGL toolkits which rely on a database with correct globe size in meter. w.r.t. 2: Are you talking about your main texture geotiffs or DEM geotiffs? What are your DEM sources? SRTM? w.r.t. 3: Hmm I havn't used this --range option yet, what does it change? w.r.t 4: you have missed the number 4 :) w.r.t. 5: VPB adds LODs until both, texture and DEM, are displayed in full resolution. As far as I know does VPB exactly what you want! I have a low resolution globe with NASA bluemarble, high resolution imagery of my country and very high resolution images of my city. While the globe only has some LODs, germany and munich has more level of details. w.r.t. 6: Don't know waht your plans regarding .flt w.r.t. 7: it should be possible to use osgconv to convert the model and save texture files seperate. w.r.t. 8: Have you tried the optimizer? I don't know if that could work.. I have another question: you are talking about the "leaf node". Maybe its a problem of my english, but even with dictionary: what is a leaf node? :) Thank you!
