hi! yes, i have managed to build the examples that come with it, and other people managed to do so too. you shouldn't need to change anything in the example source code, in fact if you follow my tutorial to the dot then you should be able to have it working in 1/2 to 1h. i'm sorry to say that i don't know a solution to the error you're getting.
