When running the OSX binaries on a MacBook Pro, I am getting hard freezing after a couple of seconds on some examples (osganimate). On others (osgdepthshadow) it froze after pressing 'h' , it didn't freeze when I moved from full-screen to window mode.
The freezes are nasty, I have to reboot the machine (ssh-in in from anther machine & killing the process does not work)
I don't have an Intel Mac so I can't verify. It doesn't happen on any of my PPC machines. I ran a CVS version a few months back on an Intel iMac for about a week and did not experience any of your described problems though. (There does seem to be a threading bug in somewhere in OSG/Producer though which causes crashes on exit sometimes.) So here are a few things to try: - Do the old OSG 1.0 (Universal) binaries produce this same exact problem on your machine (still available from the main download page)? If so, I would suspect a very bad Apple driver bug. If you could compare against a different Intel Mac, it might be interesting. - If the 1.0 does work, you might try compiling debug versions of everything in 1.1. I changed the compiler optimization flag from -O3 to -Os in the 1.1 release. Maybe something screwy in compiler optimizations is causing this. - I heard something about an OpenGL driver snafu by Apple in the last system update on the first day (10.4.7). I don't know the details, but maybe you need to look into this. If this turns out to be an Apple problem, I strongly encourage you to submit a bug report so they will fix it. They tend to take freezing OpenGL bugs pretty seriously.
ps. having similar problems on a Fedora Core 5 x86_64, with OSG built for 32-bit (ARCHFLAGS = -m32), totally kills X, I'll do more testing on this ne in 64-bit mode & on a CentOS4
Sorry, I don't know anything 64-bit Linux. -Eric _______________________________________________ osg-users mailing list [email protected] http://openscenegraph.net/mailman/listinfo/osg-users http://www.openscenegraph.org/
