Just wanted to chime in here again because I'm worried about what I see going on. It looks to me like the future will see Robert maintaining OSG and Don maintaining Producer. There have been a lot of grim statements made about this today, but I don't see much cause for alarm.
There will probably be some refactoring on both OSG and Producer in the next week or two, which will cause compatibility issues briefly. This is the nature of CVS; things don't always work but they get fixed eventually. Having everything working is what release versions are for. Once things settle out in a week or two I predict everything will work alright. Today I have seen creation of new mailing lists and talk of forking projects to keep everything working. I don't see any good coming from this. All that is likely to come from these actions is for people to take sides and form cliques. Who needs that? For the good of the OSG/Producer community, how about if we keep this discussion on this mailing list (where it belongs) instead of creating new lists. And maybe we can take a few days to let some of these project changes settle in and get completed and not have any more knee-jerk reactions. May cooler heads prevail..... - Terry _______________________________________________ osg-users mailing list [email protected] http://openscenegraph.net/mailman/listinfo/osg-users http://www.openscenegraph.org/
