This is a spin-off of the original topic. I just did a number of route calculations for the different heuristic coefficients being hc=1.0 (default OsmAnd), hc=1.2 and hc=1.5 I took the routing.xml, copied the car routing profile out of it and made my own routing.xml (the earlier mentioned mycar15.xml and mycar2.xml) Done with OsmAnd+ 3.6.3, maps: mixture of February and March on Motorola G6-plus (4GB) on Android 9

Just let it calculate and check later for the results. When it comes to motorways/highways there is almost no difference in the route itself. When it comes to small roads or in city routing, the hc=1.5 sometimes deviates from the others, but the overall traveling time or calculated distance does not vary much. Like I (stubbornly) mentioned before: dense traffic, traffic lights, refueling/toilet pauses, etc. have much bigger impact on travelling time. I could have tested with hc=1.3 and hc=1.5 too, but didn't feel motivated too (after all: it is not a paid job with the chance of winning the Nobel prize) This again strenghtens my personal view to use hc=1.5 for long travles and hc=1.2 for city travels. But of course: You all decide yourself. Harry -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "OsmAnd" group.
