I don't know. Putting my software developer hat, I'd guess that the
difference is fairly small. And I'm pretty sure that the GPS receiver
power is negligible in this scenario. So I think it's down to powering
the display and updating the map. Not sure which of the two is more
significant. I do know that updating the map is very CPU demanding (and
osmand seems not do use much caching there), so I'd be inclined to think
that updating the map takes more power than just the display, but
I don't know. I'd also point out that there are more costly display
updates when navigating, because of the auto-zoom.
