Thank you for the more detailed information about the difference between
selecting a single POI and all POIs that the search found.

>From a user perspective IMHO, turning off something I found by searching
for it IS part of search. I realize it is not considered that by
developers. Configuring the map is something this user feels is a rare
event ... configure the map to get it show the things I want in the way I
want. When I am happy about the configuration, I would rarely go back to
configuring the map. Searching for a POI (or set of them) is something I
would want to do on an ad hoc basis. For example on a bike ride when the
rain is about to come down, I might search for shelters. Once in a shelter
and dry, I would want to turn off that search, easily.
