It's revealing of his thought process. He knows that increasing taxes on the wealthy will hurt the economy but somehow wants to have his cake and eat it too. What I hear is this. "I still want to increase your taxes but I have to get elected first.." > > You seem to be arguing that timing of economic decisions is utterly > irrelevant. I guess it is if you think the well off are cows to be milked when the time is right or allowed to fatten up when it's not. Take a stand either way but don't hide your real intentions behind weasel words. Like I said, the wealthy weren't voting for him anyway, so why even bother saying this? Does he think the poor are going to go "Oh good, he is going to delay the tax increase on the wealthy so I'll vote for him? Who the heck is his audience for this comment? > > > >> "Barack Obama has said he considered joining the United States >> military when he left school but decided not to because the Vietnam >> war was over and "we weren't engaged in an active military conflict >> at >> that point"." >> >> *Right.. It's not a cheap shot. He's lying and any person that has actually served knows it at first glance. You can't possible believe that Obama actually thought of going into the military but decided against it because there were no wars? That just does not pass the smell test. Politically it is simply pointless to even bother pretending to be anything other that what he his because people can smell pandering from a distance. I'm not saying there is something wrong with following the ivy league lawyer/ politician path but just don't pretend to be something you are not and expect people who have actually served their country to believe you. Clue for Obama.., There is honor in serving and PROTECTING your country when there are no wars going on. In fact the whole point of the military is to be strong in peacetime so potential enemies avoid starting wars. If he doesn't get that he isn't qualified to run the military because that type of thinking leads to cuts during peacetime that get soldiers killed during war. To me it just comes off as desperate and politically stupid. > > > >> Vote for me, I'm McCain Lite.. > > Even if I swallowed this idiot line, I'd much rather have the > Lite version than the full strength. > Fair enough. I suspect many feel the same way but some of the undecided just might choose the real thing and it won't take a lot to swing the race the other way. My meta point on all of this is that he looks more and more like a plain old run of the mill politician, not some agent of actual change and the more he comes 'down to earth' the more McCain is going to gain ground on him. =c= _______________________________________________ OSX-Nutters mailing list | [email protected] http://lists.tit-wank.com/mailman/listinfo/osx-nutters List hosted at http://cat5.org/
