You see, not being part of the American gun culture, when you
say "I don't want to use guns to commit crimes, I only want them in
case I need to shoot a federal official", I find that both
a) inherently contradictory.
and
b) relatively convincing evidence that a ban is a probably good idea.
If your primary reason for wanting one s really that you may need to
engage in armed rebellion, I find that convincing evidence that the
rest of us would be better off if you didn't have one.
I'm not saying that my opinions about guns are any more
objective -- just pointing out that if you aren't brought up with US
gun culture, emotive arguments based on it tend to have exactly the
opposite effect.
