Mmmh yes it is that bad ... Again, we are not guilty here. If you use
gdal internal tiff, the gdal library will expose tiff symbols which may
conflict with an existing system tiff. There are two ways of solving this :
- Have an up-to-date system tiff with bigtiff enabled (bigtiff support
is the main reason gdal users usually build the internal tiff), and
build gdal against it,
- Build the internal tiff/geotiff and make sure gdal hides the internal
tiff and geotiff symbols.
So if you are building gdal with : --lib-tiff=internal
--lib-geotiff=internal (or even with default value, I do not know what
they are), you should also use
--with-rename-internal-libtiff-symbols=yes and
--with-rename-internal-libgeotiff-symbols=yes
Can you rebuild your gdal with these options and see how it is going ?
Note that some distributions (like ubuntugis for instance) already have
the proper settings (either hidden symbols or up-to-date tiff library)
so that the problem does not show when using those packages.
