I really hate using UE ther-ex in my treatment sessions. None of the PTs I
work with ever do it, so if it is necessary, I will train the pts on a
program and let them cary it out on their time, or with the restorative aid.
I like to use the treatment time for more functional things. I see
ther-ex used as a treatment "filler", way too often. I work in SNF, and I
think it has become a way to drag out the length of treatment. It doesn't
matter if the eval said WFL or 5/5! Busy day? Throw everybody into an UE
group. Aren't OT supposed to be strengthening through functional activities
anyway? If the PTs want arm exercises, I say, feel free!
