1wire is great however I want to switch AC voltages. Although I can easily
build devices capable of mains switching either solid state or relay I liked
the idea of buying something off the shelf that has appropriate approvals
for insurance reasons. I am not sure about the reliability of X10, plus its
expensive.

I was thinking of hacking a wireless remote controlled power socket (See
link below) and control through a 1wire switch. It turns out $10.00 per
point so its cheap and a consumer device which is certified for my country
for 240VAC applications. The remote has an ON and OFF button per socket.

Then I thought wouldn't it be great if I simply used a 433 mhz transmitter
direct from my Server. Instead of writing my own script I had a vision of
owfs allowing me to create a custom device, specify the number and type of
parameters and then next to each parameters allow me to insert an AT style
of command for each parameter all via a web interface :)

I think I have also seen some wireless power monitors.

devices

Hy,

Just for my knowledge, why do you want Owfs to be able to connect to X10,
ZigBee, XBee or else when protocol like XPL [1], projects as Xpl-Perl [2] or
more advanced userfirendly project like Domogik (web +
Python) or other exist.

As english ins not my native language it's possible I missunderstand the
goal of your request, so can you explain as I take some interrest on this
subject.

Pascal.
