My system is evolving in the opposite direction. After a lot of research in the beginning I decided to use Digitemp to measure all of the temperatures and X10 to drive all of the mains voltage outputs, with a Python script running it all. As it evolved I moved from Digitemp to owfs as that gave me more flexibility, and I had a problem with one of my X10 outputs just not working some times, the switch unit worked fine in other parts of the house, just not where I wanted it to! So I have changed a couple of the X10 outputs to 1-wire DS2406 modules with home brew electronics driving relays, The others will change as well when I get around to it.
I think that one problem with X10 is that you cannot tell if the signal received by the remote device is good and healthy or right on the limit of failure. There is test equipment around that can do it but it is expensive. Cheers Mick On 20/10/11 13:41, Robert Conway wrote: > 1wire is great however I want to switch AC voltages.
