I wonder, if someone managed to get a LinkUSB working stable on a raspi. I tried different permutations of power-supply and hubs and was not yet successful for a longer time period.
My 1wire-net is stable for years now on the PC. I use a LinkUSB as bus-master and run a powered network of about 15 temp-sensors and 2 in/out-modules. I power the network with 5V of the PC power-supply. When I now move to the raspi everything works fine in the beginning. I collect data every 30 seconds of all sensors. After a certain time - it can be 1 to 3 hours - the raspi hangs itself up with smsc errors. There were hints on the raspi forum, that this might be a power supply issue, but I could not confirm this. For now I started to use a lab power supply set to 5.2V (5.0V measured on the TP on the raspi itself) with a current limit set to 1.2A. The power usage of the raspi is at the most 0.4A at 5V, and this is with the LinkUSB as the ONLY external USB-device since I communicate to the raspi via SSH-shell. The lowest power when idling is 0.35A at 5V. The 0.4 is seen when writing the data to the rrd on the sd-card (for the moment). I use wheezy and keep it up to date, together with the packaged owfs-2.8p15. I already tried two different powered USB-hubs and hooked the LinkUSB on there - same result. Not sure what to try next. I wanted to use the raspi as a dedicated device for my heating-controller for my house. The winter is coming, but the raspi is not coming along :( Any suggestions?
