If the entire machine is locking up, then I concur with previous posters that 
this is most likely a hardware issue.

User mode applications are not going to cause your entire machine to stop 
responding. Also, if the machine is hanging even during the boot process, then 
I doubt any Adobe product has anything to do with it.

Nothing seems to specifically mention the freezing, but there are a 
suspiciously large number of events in the System and Application logs. The 
System one has Info events every 2 to 10 minutes non-stop telling me services 
whose names I don't recognise are stopping and starting. The Application log 
contains some Adobe related errors about conflicting versions, but again it's 
mostly meaningless to me. I do see mention of some Adobe components such as 
Captivate and Forms Designer in the conflict errors.

This mess of events does hint however that something is NQR, but what? Adobe is 
looking a bit guilty.

The Abode suite is bloatware, but I'll try to selectively disable parts of it 
such as Captivate (which my wife doesn't use) and others parts that we guess 
she probably doesn't use.
