I asked about this placenta percreta situation last night. Apparently, from what could be remembered the abnormal placentation was found from an unusual dating ultrasound which was then followed up with higher resolution u/s. The mother was sent to x-ray to have central lines in situ. The surgeons used some new laser surgery that had never been done in Cairns before, where they lasered off the ingrowing placenta, the woman did have a hysterectomy though, the laser was to seperate the placenta from other internal organs. All went well and was published in the Cairns Post in the last couple of weeks. I have been unable to locate the article on-line. Lynn's description of removal/treatment seems more benign though less dramatic.
