Actually it looks like you need to additionally activate the supplicant on
the OS's running it. If you are trying to just plug them in as they are you
get messages that look like this:
*Mar 2 18:25:49.047: %AUTHMGR-5-START: Starting 'dot1x' for client
(0025.6440.e361) on Interface Gi1/0/13 AuditSessionID
000000000000000F091AC100
*Mar 2 18:25:50.264: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface GigabitEthernet1/0/13,
changed state to up
*Mar 2 18:25:51.270: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface
GigabitEthernet1/0/13, changed state to up
*Mar 2 18:25:57.545: %DOT1X-5-FAIL: Authentication failed for client
(0025.6440.e361) on Interface Gi1/0/13 AuditSessionID
*Mar 2 18:25:57.545: %AUTHMGR-7-RESULT: Authentication result
'no-response' from 'dot1x' for client (0025.6440.e361) on Interface
Gi1/0/13 AuditSessionID 000000000000000F091AC100
This seems to indicate the Cisco switch never heard from the supplicant and
then decided not to bother.
For us, this may be a problem as we either would need to turn the
supplicant on for thousands of devices or just use MAB or use SNMP, I guess.
Cheers,
Boris.
