The main focus of the Palm platform has been simplicity from the user's
point of view -- anyone who's programmed the Palm knows that it's quite a
complex and powerful system.
If Java is ever going to provide simple-to-use Palm applications, let alone
complex ones, it will require a user interface framework. No serious Palm
application, whether small, large, simple or complex, can be written with
drawPixel() and drawLine() calls. I think that's the point people were
trying to make.
The KVM's instability is another question entirely.
