Actually, using the dot shortcuts isn't recommended in this case (or really
any... some will do some nasty things).  There are also some issues with the
.8 shortcut that make getting it to work very tricky.

Instead its recommended that you use either LightHack or GreenLightHack.
Both work and make the backlight look like it "used to".
