  the .8 shortcut is probably one of the ONLY safe ones.. :>

  i have the .8 shortcut installed.. and i have NOT had a problem with
  my pilot device.. 

  the .* shortcuts have certain OS debugging features.. ie: getting
  HotSync user name, perform reset.. etc. 

  i dont see the point of installing a 5Kb hack when it is built into
  the OS (and it is stable) - at least this shortcut. :>
