First, calm down.
Try performing HARD RESET (that is, hold down the power (green) key while
resetting the device) and it will probably work. Of course, you'll lose all
data in there, but you sound like ready for it.
It looks like "after many resets" the bug in OS3.0 that causes each time a
record to be added to the shortcuts database (if I remember correctly) takes
now much longer than before and that's why it looks to you the system hangs.
