How to determine CPU type?

  Does anyone have any idea on how to determine whether a device is
running on a 68328, 68EZ328 or 68VZ328 processor?

  There is a Chip ID register for the 68328 and 68EZ328 CPUs, but it
seems to be gone for the 68VZ328 and the emulator doesn't support it
anyway.  :-(  There must be a way because the ROMs must do it somehow!
