Although the Palm is a really cool device, and I like developing for it...
There is alot to be said for a device you can drop a wireless LAN card in
and surf the web without all the business about web clipping or having to
pay recurring monthly access charges to one of the wireless ISPs. I work
for an ISP and our entire facility is covered by wireless access points.
With CE I can drop a card in and surf the web or access my e-mail directly.
With my Palm device... well I'm still waiting.
One of our customers is a Physician's office with 14 or 15 Physicians and
Nurse Practitioners. One of the projects that I've been given is to develop
a means for the practiioners to access their clinical records system, which
is all web based, anywhere within their facility. Currently I'm leaning
towards a PocketPC implementation with wireless access cards because all the
technology is there to do it today. For Palm, I don't seem to be having any
luck.
