The web pages are "active" and interactive and having to point a device at
something to hotsync isn't sufficient.
The system has been designed totally web based, and it works great on web
browsers, and now we're charged with making it portable, so wireless http
seems like a good possibility to require the minimum work.
It doesn't seem like too unreasonable a request to have standards based
interface technology built into the Palm device. The TRGpro has a CF slot,
but there is no wireless support using it.
With the PocketPC I can buy 802.11b equipment and start using my wireless
LAN.
The wireless LAN was originally deployed in our facility so that laptops
used for presentations could be used anywhere. Now, we're able to add even
more functionality without having to redesign the entire infrastructure, as
the Palm would require. Since we have experience with this technology, we
also can save time in the deployment of new projects and not have to
"reinvent the wheel" as the Palm techonology would require.
