>From the actual document to which Brian was referring:
"Trademark Guidelines for Solution Providers"
"Naming Your Product or Company
To ensure the protection of our branding eff o rts, we have imposed the
follow-ing
guidelines on the usage of Palm brand identities. You may not use Palm,
Palm OS, HotSync technology, or any other Palm trademark as part of your
own company name, product name, or as part of the brand name of your
company's product."
So, I guess that even though you might not be getting an explicit email from
Palm Inc.
regarding your use of the word 'Palm' in your product or company, the above
paragraph makes
it pretty clear that you cannot.

Subject: Re: Can Palm Inc own the word "Palm" ?
I strongly suggest that anyone reading this thread go directly to the
Marketing Area in the resource pavilion on PalmOS.com. This topic is
covered extensively from the official source.
Please do not infer or assume anything when we have the information
available to us directly from the horse's mouth.
