password doubt

Hi friends,
                For my palm project, I have a text field which takes the
password. But in text field, the characters
We type will be echoed. Do we have any simple method for echoing
asterisks(*) in a text field. By taking 
Keydown event and using setText() is a difficult task. Do we have a simple
way of doing this?
