To satisfy users that insisted on this, I have used a check box on the
screen with the password.. when the box was checked, it changed the font of
the field to Symbol (and thus replaced all the letters with boxes).. when
you unchecked it, it changed the font back to normal (and you could see what
you had typed). If the boxes aren't acceptable, make a custom font that is
all asterisks (or whatever other character you want it to be) and use that
instead.
Bottom line, don't mask it in such a way that you risk them being frustrated
because they can't figure out why the password they *KNOW* is correct
(anyone who has done any kind of tech support knows the tone of that phrase)
isn't working all of a sudden.
