Just to let you all know, I tested this on Mac OS 9.1 and 10.1 (in both classic and native mode), and it did convert the project back properly. That means this isn't something that is all encompassing, and I still need to work with John to track down the exact nature of his settings/environment to see where this behavior comes in.
