First, the "DRx" signifiers stopped back around release 3. They were used to indicate an early release produce (developer release). IIRC, release 4 dropped the "DR". Second, the crashing problem mainly affects opening newer projects converted or built on a PC with a Macintosh or vice-versa. There is a bug with byte-swapping with previous releases that was fixes in IDE 4.2.5. To quote the CW Palm 8 release notes: File Mappings: Previous IDEs, up through 4.1.x, had a bug in the byte-swapping code of the File Mappings panel. If a 4.2.x project file is opened with a previous IDE and the project needs to be converted, the older IDE may crash. The work-around is to open the project on the same host platform on which the project was originally created.
