The backend relays totally on the Palm app to do the validation?  This is bad.
Because it can still creates problems when you have a bug in your app. It
doesn't matter what correct values the user input.

I'd believe you have a "cancel" button on that form, so you can also have a
"save for later" button, which saves the data in a seperate database. The user
can later bring it back to finish the editing. You can have the "save for
later" button default, so when user exits, it saves it.
