Yes, I spoke with Monica Fleming at Socket last night - they have a 1D SDIO scanner scheduled for 1Q of 2003. They have a tentative 2D support date of 3Q 2003. Incidentally, I've worked with the Symbol SPT 1700 quite a bit, and I can say this: if you need 1D PalmOS scanning now, based on my work with the Symbol 1700, the SPT 1550 & SPT 1800 are probably very solid products. CodeWarrior has great support for the Symbol line - getting a test application compiled and running to scan barcodes in CW 7 took me very little time with CW's included Symbol API support and included Symbol API documentation, making it very easy to access Symbol's unique hardware configurations (such as the scanner, internal networking cards, and snap-on printer.) AppForge also supports Symbol's product line, if you'd prefer to develop in VB. AppForge has special versions of their Booster to access the unique hardware configurations of the 1550 and 1800. >From the news that ticks me off department: in an email I just received from Christopher Ciervo at Symbol, they will have no PalmOS 2D barcode scanning support. The 1800, which is replacing the 1700, won't do 2D. Quote: "The bigger question you're asking is what's our plan. The answer is that we're not doing an 1800 2D version as a standard product.
