So is the Symbol CSM150, a springboard module for the Handspring Visor lineup, and its nearly identical sequel from PCS, the Momentum II. It used to be my combination of choice when paired with the Visor Prism, because of the very high indoor visibility of the color Prism's screen (not to mention being able to use color visual effects), the faster USB port for transferring large databases like inventory, and originally, a faster processor and more memory than the SPT1500. The SPT1550 is now similar in memory and processor, but still lacks the color screen visibility and the USB transfer speed. Alas, it remains to be seen if all Visors will go the way of the Prism. But you can get a very cost effective combination with the Visor Pro ($199 with 16MB memory, rechargeable battery, and USB) plus $159 for the CSM150. That is under $360 for a unit that is very similar to the SPT1550 but has more memory, USB transfer, and rechargeable batteries. >CodeWarrior has great support for the Symbol line ... AppForge also supports >Symbol's product line, if you'd prefer to develop in VB. NSB/Palm also supports the 1D Symbol line, albeit not the complete API set as with CW. But you can still enable/disable specific symbologies, set triggering modes, etc. For generic scanning support it is trivial to add to a NSB application. I've never tried it with a 2D scanner.
