Completely depends on the market.  I could never see my wife using a PPC
hand held even though she is computer literate.  However, I have customers
that could not collect their data using a Palm OS device.
I think the article was referring to the consumer market.  Power users
aside, most consumers won't carry around both a hand held and a cell phone.
The cell phone would be the primary device of choice.  If its also a PDA, so
much the better.  On the flip side, a PDA that is also a cell phone doesn't
quite cut it yet.  As someone pointed out, a really good cell phone with PIM
features is less than $100 while a good PDA with cell phone features is
$300+.
But remember this is a developer's newsgroup not a marketing one.
