once you figure out the environment/system - it is fine. 

now, me.. i like to handcraft a makefile to build software. with
symbian, makefile's dont exist, you have .mmp files - (project)
and, you have ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL over the compile process.

i eventually found a way to give a 5% boost in performance by
turning on compiler options that generate much better code :)
symbian is fine, now i can control the compiler *g*
