because some of us do not run out lives with $$$$ ringing in our eyes. there are some developers (yes, its true) who would do something like this for the good of the developer. ideally, it would be nice to have it "open" - so, as some developers drop off new ones can come through and improve the site.

I am glad to hear that. I am not surprised, since that seemed to be the perspective you were coming from initially. You do have to admit, though, that $$$$ is powerful, and that it can corrupt people. Hopefully your partners for this ESD will be as altruistic and quality-driven as you seem to be, so that neither you nor any successors in that new ESD's leadership will sell out to the big players (or even worse, become a big and greedy ESD yourselves.)
