I've had about equal success with several brands of hard drives, including WD, Seagate, Maxtor, and Fujitsu. I've yet to have a hard drive actually fail, though my ancient 20 Meg WD (the first hard drive I ever owned) was starting to lose a few sectors when I retired it.
