Nope - The Commandant of Star Fleet specifically states that the  
primary fleet is in a different sector... that is why Enterprise and  
other ships in orbit are populated with a majority of cadets.  Also,  
Captain Pike ordered the Enterprise to join the fleet at that sector  
should things go badly.

Only for ships were lost at Vulcan.

Field commissions are temporary and must be approves as any other rank  
once battle is over.

See 1 - also, the medal is enough for military tradition.  A 5 level  
rank jump is unheard of.

Unestablished if anyone else even knows about him.  What weight would  
he even pull?  The Spock they know is just a commander.  The Prime  
Spock has only his word.

Not harsh at all.  It is the majority view in the Star Trek forums and  
websites.
