I will accept that. What I should have said in my previous post was, that the '50's originals generally had an underlying theme behind them, usually dealing with the dangers of a specific social concern, such as nuclear warfare or Communism. The remakes of these films usually cast aside any social relevance in favor of more action and effects.
You are right, I shouldn't say that remakes shouldn't be made, but I will reserve the right to call them crap when they deserve it. I just don't agree with a blanket dismissal. Most remakes are crap. Some, occasionally, surprise. I am a nearly chaotic libertarian in most things. The remakes do not detract from the originals... the originals still exist... so let people TRY and do their best. perhaps out of 100s of wastes we will find one treasure. -M On Oct 27, 2009, at 11:34 AM, Paul McCool wrote: > > That's different, 1) that's TV, and 2) Battlestar Galactica was > hardly an > allegorical commentary on modern social issues. > > Paul M. > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "The Haggard 何麥可" <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Monday, October 26, 2009 8:31 PM > Subject: [Papermodels II 40576] Re: OT: THEM > > >> >> Oh...
