I got hooked on the paper modeling work, when I discovered Mr.
Bershley's stationary steam engine, not sure how, and figured that would
be a solution to a wee problem I was having with another model I was
planning.
I was involved with the PRR modelers Yahoo Group, and sought some advice
from its members. I wanted to build a "G" scale "Pay Car", a drawing of
which had appeared in an earlier "Model Railroader" magazine. When I
offered to post a copy of drawings fro a "Model Railroader" magazine, to
the group, I was resoundly told that it was copyright, and to do so
would get me into all sorts of legal poo. It seems that one of the "MR"
directors is also on said group. So I had to go it alone.
I decided that an easy way to do the detail would be to draw it in "Auto
Cad", and print it onto light card. I would then glue said car to thing
plywood sheet, and just cut these out, and assemble. Life is never that
easy, of course. There are far too many other things to do.
I still haven't finished the drawing yet, six years on., and I haven't
really got all that many paper models built. But I am a keen fan, and
really enjoy dreaming about the day when I can actually get some done.
