Cde Seroke I usually receive call from Africanists from all different locations. Some enquire about job ads which I post on this circulation from time to time, others enquire about certain documents, most particularly old publications which I have posted in the past. Recently, I got some sort of a laud and honor from an Africanists in Siyabuswa. At the funeral of Cde Mkhwanazi, as I wasn't driving. I got into the bus (which was from Siyabuswa) from the Church to the gravesite. I enquired to the comrades about this comrade, they told me he was not around. Monday morning he wrote "I WAS NOT AT THE FUNERAL BUT MY WIFE WAS AT.I HEARD THERE WAS SOMEONE LOOKING FOR ME.WAS IT YOU". What is striking in my heart in this is that the comrade's wife is an Africanist. The family ethos is grounded on Africanism. How many Africanists these days bring along their partners to our meetings. Are we aware that families are a strong building block of building this organization
Secondly, and this is very important. Some years ago, I enquired about Victor Mayekiso on this circulation. Cde Seroke, gave some insightful information. Fast forward two years later, I received calls from a girl ( a granddaughter of Elias Nthloadibe)who claimed to be her daughter and cited some difficulties of locating the remaining family. We tried all what we could do without any success. But, I was elated with this because that girl had found our discussion about Victor Mayekiso on the internet. Quite recently another girl from Egypt, it is believed that Mayekiso was once married to an Egyptian woman, telephoned me about Mayekiso. She told me that she was Victor's daughter. The two girls have communicated through my connection and made some arrangements of meeting for the first time. This is what one of them had to say "Thank you so much. I am really happy. She is in Cape Town (the unknown sibling) and the brother mom was telling me about is in Soweto. I don't know how to Thank you but I hope God blesses you over and over". But I am redirecting the gratitude to all Africanists who are actively participating on this circulation, I am citing this episode because some of the things which we discuss on this circulation may sound trivial, but their aren't.
