Cde Nkrumah

This is an interesting debate. It may clash with the funeral of Cde Khoza
which I assume will be this Saturday. The memorial service is this Friday
at DOCC/ YMCA Orlando East according to Cde Mahapa.

Incidentally this forum has been silent about the passing of Cde Khoza, a
PAC veteran from Orlando East who was part of the 1960 Positive Action
Campaign against the pass laws in 1960. He was with the group that handed
themselves for arrest in Orlando Police Station. He subsequently spent
some days with other PAC members at Number 4 (he was part of the PAC
activists who challenged the Constitution Hill to retell their story after
discovering that they had been bundled with the so-called criminals and
ordinary pass offenders in the exhibition narrative) as well as served
time in Stofberg and Groenpunt.

In 1963 following the mass arrest of PAC members and Poqo operatives he
was also arrested and served time on Robben Island.

He will be remembered by PAC activists as one comrade who has documented
through his camera all major PAC activities. I had the privilege of going
through his priceless collection of PAC literature particularly the near
complete collection of the Africanist I have ever seen- published before
the PAC was formally established. All these were kept in his shack at his
family home in Orlando, an archive that may finally be lost to PAC
activists, students and scholars- another symptom of the perennial illness
of our party.

I did an interview with Cde Khoza a few years back. I will look for the
text and post it to this forum as soon as I am able to do so as a tribute
to his memory.
