Total Recorder and Goldwave I have to say are probably some of the most 
amazingly priced titles in the audio tools shopping basket I've ever seen for 
Windows.  I can't comment on Total Recorder Standard edition because I've never 
used it but I can say that Total Recorder Professional is an incredibly 
powerful and flexible application, not just for recording now but for editing, 
adding effects, processing and converting audio, all that for $35.00.  goldwave 
is just value for money handed to you on a plate if you're doing professional 
audio editing, combined with the Multiquence software you have a studio in the 
palm of your hand for less than $100.00.
