Hi All,
This is a very interesting thread. I live in Thailand which is probably
more prone to somewhat more extremes in current voltage than perhaps most
other parts of the US and Europe. The system that I use, although I am not
sure that it is foolproof, is on the first electrical connection, is an APS
battery-controlled surge protector plus a strip surge controller on each
Mac. I have three Macs all on a network protected by the first line of
defence of the APS plus the secondary line of defence of the strip surge
protectors. So far, over three years, this has proved to be very
effective. While having three Macs (plus peripherals, printers, zip
drives, external modems etc.) drawing power from one electrical point would
seem extreme, I have found it to be very effective in preventing the kinds
of problems that some listers have had with power surges. So far, over
three years, I have had no problems at all (Is that the call to apply
Murphy's Law???)
Cheers
Roger
