After a couple dozen old Macs, i can safely say that dust is one of the most
common problems of over heating, particularly in the LC pizza box and other
low overhead machines (conversely I've seen both a IIci and a Q-700 work fine
with dead fans!!)
I had my Cock chipped LC-475 die when i put a hot running drive in with a OWC
605 33mhz booster (the booster died).......i had been running it with a two
slot LC top and changed to the 605 top.....that change in ventilation did the
job....along with a LOT of dust from my apt. before it died it performed
equal to a 650 (with a full 68040RC40)......
Beware!!
I'm sure that 630CD/6300CD are as vunerable....
