I do low end design like you (and catalog editing and web site for
one small company) and need more RAM and more hard drive space for
photoshop. You don't say how much RAM you have or what version of
photoshop. But I just upgraded photoshop 5 to 6 and can't scan or do
anything. Large amount of RAM is definitely important and probably
causing your lock ups and I don't know how you can get away with a 1
GB hard drive. My 4 GB is way too small. If you're saving picture
files, you need larger drive. Do you get messages in photoshop about
not enough scratch disk space? Those are two things you should have
plenty of - RAM and hard drive space.
