If it were me and my machine {7500(200Mhz 604e/256k cache) 80MB RAM, 1GB HD
+ 4GB HD, 2 port PCI USB card} I'd upgrade the processor to a Sonnet or
PowerLogix 300 or 400Mhz G3 w/1MB cache. Upgrade the RAM to 128MB. Keep the
4GB HD, remove the 1GB HD, add a 10GB HD. Remove the USB card and install a
USB/Firewire combo card. Install a 8MB ATI xclaim VR card and TV tuner.
Maybe install a 100BaseT ethernet card.
I know that none of these numbers really impresses anyone with higher end
stuff, but I simply have no need for any of that. I use my machine as any
overgrown typewriter and to tinker with a scanner and a digital camera. I
plan to use it for video editing, but just for fun. Heck, I'm using software
that's older that the computer!
As for what's left over... Invest in a CD, turn the money over several
times, put a downpayment on a house. Now there's an investment!
