Around here we never "throw out" anything, but if there were only room for
one computer in the house ( perish the thought ! ) it would be the best Mac
we could afford.

When your 9500/150 system was new in '96 it probably cost about $5,000.00

To put that into perspective, the Mac I'm using to type this on is my most
recent "neat" Mac, a PCI Daystar Genesis MP 800+ that retailed in '97 for
more than twice the price of the fastest 9500 available at the time. I was
given it a few weeks ago for nothing. Even more to the point, a fellow on
this list has been asking for advice about a fully functional 9500/132 that
he bought at a Thrift store for $10.00...

New Macs right now have the versatility to run all the software you already
have PLUS the computing power to run a small maritime nation, like Spain or
Portugal. They are a quantum leap in technology and speed.

If you don't buy new...at least buy something about a year old, like a 500
Mhz G4 tower. Both my wife and daughter have G3s (450 B&W MT and DV SE 500
iMac) that we picked up second hand from people who needed to buy new Macs
while their old Macs were still very usable. Who needs more ???? A wonderful
year-old CPU will set you back a grand and another few hundred to RAM it up
is all you'll need with PC100 RAM selling for peanuts right now.

Keep the 9500 or give it away but do get a newer Mac. Its like going from a
33 mhz 68040 to a 200 Mhz 604e...it will do everything your 9500 will do,
faster and better. You haven't really seen what Quicktime can do...
