Jess,
I agree with Grayson. If you don't want the fastest and latest state of the
art Mac, than go for the Blue & White G3.
I have one, a 350 Mhz and love it. It does everything I want to do
(Photoshop, XPress, GoLive etc and FPS games) and love the B&W case, better
than the G4, well the QuickSilver G4 looks nice too :-) I have to mention
this: if you go for a B&W G3 make sure it is a Revision B (2) or higher. The
first B&W G3s 300, 350 (like mine) and some 400 Mhz models were Rev. 1
meaning that the onboard IDE controller can't do master/slave for installing
more than one HD. So that you can't install more than one HD in it. BUT
Maxtor HDs work fine in a Rev.1 B&W, I have a Maxtor 30 gig as a slave
installed to the stock 6 gig.
So what I'm trying to say is, if you go for a B&W G3 go for the 450 Mhz
model, those are definitely Rev B or higher, than you're sure that you won't
have any master/slave problems.
Also IIRC the latest B&W model, thus the 450 Mhz, lacked the ADB port, or
was that the first G4? Can anyone confirm this?
Only if you are a heavy gamer I would recommend an AGP G4 instead of the
B&W. Although I play FPS games on my B&W with a Voodoo 5 5500 PCI card with
64 MB, I also have played FPS games @ work on a fast G4 with an AGP Geforce
2 card and that looked much much better with higher framerates. But hey you
can't have everything :-) But since you're not a heavy Mac gamer, but more a
PS2 gamer (play that too, damn GT3 looks nice :-) I recommend the B&W.
Just my 2 'stuivers'.
